HAMMERED: THE PROJECT

#Hammered: The Project aims towards educating the public the consequences on being under the influence and the importance on drinking responsibly when an individual chooses to drink. In addition, we aim to highlight those who are under the age requirement to not be influenced by their peers on how “cool” it may be to be drinking early.

Through public service announcement videos (which we will produce), social networking sites (Instagram and Facebook) as well as printed media, we hope that our project by the end of the semester would be able to successfully reach out to our target audience.

OUR PURPOSE

Lately, the younger generation have been taking causes (such as don’t drink and drive, and don’t litter – as an example) very lightly, and would often shrug the problem off their shoulders like it isn’t a big deal. They have heard many public service announcements being aired on radios, advertisement being showed before the movie start in theatres; numerous times that it has become predictable, turning them immune to the problem. Underage drinking happens to be one of the many causes high school students chooses to ignore. Their pride and desire to be “cool” have fought and won themselves over, which is a big problem.

One of the many reasons we have decided to choose this cause is out of the lack of attention. Although there might be some public service announcements out there that urges high school students to not drink, there are not that many compared to Drink and Drive. The only common platform in spreading awareness of this cause involves a simple poster with a cross sign of beer bottles and the restricted ages which, in our opinion, is not effective as it only tells underage children to not drink; not informing them the reason why and the consequences it will cost if they choose to rebel against it.
